Description

To honour the 20th anniversary of e-rocks auctions, I would like to offer a truly outstanding Norwegian classic:

A crystal aggregate of flesh-coloured, partly lustrous hydroxylapatite crystals with many nice faces, of which the main crystal has a diameter of 2.5 cm. Four crystals can be distinguished. Dark green amphibole between the crystals.

Two labels, one from the private collection of Anton Berger (1870 - 1956, mineral dealer in Mödling near Vienna) and one of Scott Williams Mineral Company, Oberlin, Kansas (American mineral dealer 1924 - 1997; label between 1991 and 1997).

The specimen is only labelled as apatite from Kragerø but it is certainly hydroxyapatite from the old Åtangen iron mine immediately west of Kragerø.
