Description

Attractive quartz floater from Spain, known locally as “Eisenkiesel.” This specimen is fully crystallized all around and developed without visible point of attachment, giving it true floater character. The surface is densely covered with dozens, even hundreds, of sharply terminated quartz crystals, all showing a strong vitreous luster. The deep red coloration is caused by finely dispersed hematite inclusions, which permeate the crystals and give the entire cluster its rich, iron-saturated appearance. Spanish Eisenkiesel has long been appreciated for this intense hematite impregnation and the compact, sparkling growth habit. A well-formed and representative floater example from this classic occurrence.
