Description

A very attractive combination specimen from Mexico. The base of the piece is formed by metallic blue covellite, creating a strong and visually striking foundation.

Resting on top is a very large native silver aggregate with a bright silvery metallic luster. The contrast between the deep metallic blue covellite and the reflective silver is particularly impressive and gives the specimen a very strong aesthetic presence.

Covellite is a copper sulfide mineral known for its distinctive indigo to metallic blue coloration and typically forms in the secondary enrichment zones of copper deposits. Native silver, on the other hand, crystallizes directly as metallic silver and is highly valued by collectors when forming large and well developed aggregates like this. The combination of these two minerals creates a remarkable and highly collectible ore specimen that stands out in any metal or ore mineral collection.
