Description

Flattened native copper leaves filling cracks of a metamorphosed quartz matrix. These coppers are found in an area related to basaltic localities and are not well known, so Kondopoga coppers are poorly represented in collections worldwide. Recent information have shown that these were collected in a road quarry currently reclaimed and built up with a garage array, to the SW of the Petrozavodsk city.

This specimen is part of a lot we acquired from Johann Muizebelt, who got them in 1993 at the Ylamaa Mineral Show (Finland) from a Russian geologist.
