Description

Népouit is a phyllosilicate from the serpentine group, exhibiting a characteristic green color due to its high nickel content. It was named in 1907 after its type locality, the Népoui mine in New Caledonia. In nature, it often contains magnesium and forms a solid solution series with lizardite. Here, the mineral forms greenish areas on the matrix.
