Description

This classic specimen features a robust cluster of pseudo-hexagonal aragonite twins, a hallmark of the Triassic Keuper marls of the Cuenca region. The crystals exhibit a distinct cyclic twinning, where multiple individuals have grown together to form stout, prismatic "towers" with sharp, well-defined terminations.

The specimen is characterised by its rich ferruginous (hematoid) colouration, ranging from a deep brick-red to a warm honey-brown. This vibrant hue is caused by fine inclusions of iron oxide within the crystal lattice. The crystal faces display a characteristic sub-vitreous-to-waxy lustre, with varying degrees of translucency that give the cluster a remarkable internal glow when lit.
