Description

This specimen from Kosovo features a high-contrast assembly of translucent Quartz crystals associated with metallic Pyrrhotite and Pyrite. The Quartz crystals display a sharp, prismatic habit; many are partially to heavily coated with fine, orange-brown secondary minerals (likely siderite), which provides a vibrant colour contrast against the clearer faces. The Pyrrhotite appears as prominent, platy to hexagonal crystals with a characteristic bronze-brown colour and a strong metallic lustre. Interspersed with the Pyrrhotite are bright, golden-yellow grains of Pyrite, which add additional metallic brilliance to the specimen.
