Description

This specimen features a large, well-defined Almandine garnet crystal from the Halstad locality in Norway. The crystal displays a classic, sharp dodecahedral habit and a deep, dark reddish-brown colour that appears nearly black under standard lighting. The garnet is prominently hosted on a silvery-white, foliated micaceous matrix, which provides a dramatic visual contrast. The crystal faces exhibit a range of natural textures, from smooth planes to slightly etched surfaces, all displaying a sub-vitreous to resinous lustre. The reverse side of the crystal is a natural growth feature—a contact point that serves as a remnant of where this garnet was originally joined or intergrown with another crystal within the host rock.
