Description

This specimen displays an outstanding development of connellite Cu₁₉Cl₄(SO₄)(OH)₃₂·3H₂O, forming dense coatings and radiating sprays of deep electric-blue to cobalt-blue acicular crystals. The extremely fine, elongated needles exhibit a vitreous to silky luster, producing an intense chromatic effect typical of well-crystallized connellite.

Connellite is a rare secondary copper sulfate-chloride mineral formed in the oxidation zones of copper deposits, commonly associated with atacamite, spangolite, brochantite, and langite. The Virneberg locality in Germany is well known among micromount collectors for producing highly aesthetic, vividly colored connellite with excellent crystal definition and strong contrast against the dark host rock.

The tightly packed radiating tufts and saturated blue coloration make this specimen particularly desirable for advanced collectors of copper minerals and rare European species.
