Description

Outstanding micromount of ralstonite from Ivigtut (Ivigut), Greenland, displaying an elegant cluster of well-formed crystals with octahedral to pseudo-cubic habit, showing translucent white to faintly pearly tones. The crystal faces are sharp, locally finely striated, with crisp edges and well-developed terminations, giving the specimen an excellent geometric definition.

The tightly grouped crystals exhibit a vitreous to silky luster and partial transparency, revealing delicate internal structures and ghost zoning under high magnification. The contrast between the sharp morphology and the soft milky coloration greatly enhances the overall visual appeal.

Ralstonite is a rare hydrated aluminum fluoride, characteristic of the hyperalkaline cryolite-bearing environment of Ivigtut, a world-famous locality for fluorine and aluminum minerals. A specimen of high scientific and aesthetic interest, perfectly representative of this classic occurrence, and ideally suited for advanced micromineral collections.
