Description

Excellent elbaite crystal from the famous pegmatite district of San Piero in Campo, Elba Island (Tuscany, Italy). The specimen displays a well-isolated prismatic crystal with rounded trigonal cross-section, sharply developed terminations and perfectly visible longitudinal growth striations. The color ranges from olive green to yellowish green, translucent and typical of iron-bearing elbaites from this classic locality.

The crystal is set on a matrix of hyaline quartz and whitish feldspar, whose bright reflective surfaces enhance the vitreous luster and transparency of the tourmaline. The combination of slender prismatic habit, crisp growth features and warm coloration gives the specimen a refined and highly aesthetic appearance, characteristic of the finest Elba micromounts.
