Description

Outstanding micromount of Mellite from Tatabánya, Hungary, featuring a well-isolated crystal with bipyramidal to short prismatic habit, showing honey-brown to greenish-brown tones and good translucency. The crystal displays sharp faces, balanced geometry, and a sub-vitreous to slightly greasy luster, revealing subtle internal zoning and delicate color variations.

The free-standing crystallization, without visible matrix, allows a complete view of the crystal morphology, with well-defined edges and intact terminations. The warm coloration combined with a slightly cloudy internal texture gives the specimen a refined and elegant appearance under high magnification.

Melilite is typical of metasomatic and skarn environments, commonly associated with alkaline complexes and metamorphosed carbonate rocks of the Hungarian region.
